A Bit About Us

Craig likes things to work. Whether it’s a walking stick, a leaking tap, a squeaky hinge or a candle, he believes in doing things properly - once. He says there is a purity in simplicity. Function comes first. Style - well - it's not really on the cards unless Jann is around.

A few years ago, he started making candles as a hobby. Not fancy ones - just well-made, reliable soy candles that burned clean and smelled fantastic. He gave them to friends, neighbours, and anyone who happened to drop by. Soon everyone he knew had a stash of candles, but still he kept making more.

Now, in his golden years, Craig still enjoys the process - melting, measuring, pouring, trimming, testing - and keeping the shelves nicely stocked. He’s got a playful streak too, quick with a grin and always ready to hand one over to anyone who looks like they could use a bit of light.

Eventually, the family suggested he might sell a few, if only to clear some space in the shed. He reluctantly agreed - on one condition: that people could enjoy their candles without having to look at a label. It’s part of his personal ethic, and it suits him. He’s also not one for showing his face, preferring to let the candles speak for themselves. So he still makes the candles and we’ve taken care of the online bit for him.

Now, thanks to a small family effort, Craig’s candles have found good homes beyond his immediate circle. Each one is still poured by the man himself - steady hands, small batches of twelve is what he likes - and every candle passes the only test that matters: Made by Craig. Approved by Jann.
